The first of these photographs is a tiny section of a big tree that was one of the many responsible for the "snow" that floated all over the RDW on Thurdsay. I'm assuming that the fluff producers in RDW are poplars - deciduous trees which grow very quickly. Gardeners often hate them precisely because of the full, which carries the trees' seeds, and coats the ground beneath and around them quite thickly - but it is really rather pretty as it falls. There are various different types of poplar, the best known of which is the cottonwood, but I have no idea what we have in the RDW.
